Its Christmas after all .
This idea sort of popped into my head and I finished it today ,if you look carefully I am sure you can see glue in one or two places ..it isn't quiet dry as yet :)

Merry Christmas

Sorry dear bloggers for having been  away for so long, it wasn't ment to be for such a long time but circumstances prevented me from posting. But I promise, that I have used my little 'break' for serious crafting. Now that Christmas is here, I decided to post some of the cards that I made this season.

I enjoy working with the festive colors a lot ,the reds ,greens and the golds go so well together.I especially liked these two cards as I have used the positive and negative of the Birdhouse die.Its a Marianne design Birdhouse.I rediscoved  the birdhouse in my stash and fell in love with it all over again so thought that it was time to use it .The negative was so pretty that I couldn't bring myself to throw it ,so made two identical cards.
Here goes

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you dear Friends ..

A custom order

I recently completed this ,which was  a gift for a special person...It was a huge piece - 15 by 15 completed size .And I had to quill up a frenzy to complete it.The customer had given me the color ranges to work with.
The symbol (pronounced AUM or OM) is a Hindu religious symbol, In all Hindu art and all over India  'om' can be seen virtually everywhere, a common sign for Hinduism and its philosophy and theology.

I have seen the symbol being used before the start of something auspicious ,by my family and friends .

I really enjoyed making it and it was challenging as I  had to complete it very fast !

Very Excited

Who isn't excited about getting new toys to play with ?? I have been eyeing the memory box dies for a longtime  now .They have the most amazing dies !!So when our own Shaikha from Fantasy hobbies got them ,I ordered a few of them as fast as I could...LOL And Shaikha is so very prompt that I got the dies in just 2 days ...Just in time, as I had to submit my DT posts .

This month's kit from Lil Bee's"Victorian Summer Kit" is full of interesting paper ,bling ,embellishmnets etc...Had a lovely time playing around with it .

My first submission : using the bling and memory box die :)

This  second one I made for a very dear  friend who is unwell .The minute I saw the paper ,I knew  this is what I wanted..Well I enjoyed playing around with my kit ,hope you all like it too.

Some recent creations

Thought I would post some things that I made recently ..The papers from Lil' bee's spring collection kept calling out to me ....I am sure most of you will understand what I am talking about!
I found this purse template a while ago, and had forgotten all about it, but when I saw the bright beautiful papers from Lawn Fawn I knew it was time to try out the template. I also happened to have the quilled flower ready in my stash to be used. It would make a lovely money purse for a little girl or a nice way to send party invite and there are a million other ways in which this adorable template could be used :)

Another Quick card with papers from the same kit -I never imagined Kraft and blue going together so beautifully ! Thoroughly enjoyed making it and had a blast using my new dies ...The olive leaves are from Cheery Lyn  and the Royal roses are from MFT .

Spring in Summer ????

Its so hot here in Dubai that I think one of these days I may just melt away   Yes Summer is well and truly here to stay ...But Lil Bee's spring kit is like a breath of fresh air. Full of beautiful patterned paper and stamps  from Lawn Fawn , and other wonderful goodies that are enough to make anyone drool.I love the bright bold colors of this kit and couldn't wait to get started.I do hope all of  you will enjoy the cards as much as I loved making them .

Also this time I thought I would try out JOY FOLD CARD .I  saw it while I was browsing the internet and liked it immensely. What I liked about it is the space insided which can be used for writing a personal message or a stamped sentiment can be added.Again I have used a lot of papers from the Spring kit.

Black with white

My all-time favourite combination  is black and white .(I have a closetful of clothes which attest to this ) .Recently when talking to a friend ,I was trying to impress upon her that a pictue can look very dramatic done in just black and white (Though mine does have red too) and need not  have too many colours thrown in.
I  thought I would upload these pictures just to emphasize  my point .They were done a while ago ,but I have remade two of the pictures since ,on request .The first set are all with a very dear friend.
The red roses in all of  the pictures have been made using the 1/16th paper (1.5 mm ) .Even though the 1/16th papers are tough to work with ,I enjoy working with them and love the delicate look they lend to a picture.

I cannot post these pictures and not mention Ty Wilson.I discovered his work quite by accident and fell in love instantly .I like the neat clean lines depicted in his pictures and they look beautiful quilled. Can't wait to work on another set of his pictures....

A new card, a new day, sadly still no witty title ...

Sorry for the long gap in posting .Time really flies when you're having fun ..... I finally got my BIG Shot! (Whew ) I have been having a whale of a time using it, having waited for soo long ;) ,I have a pile of die-cuts waiting to be used ,Iam justifing it with a "never know when I may need to make a card in a hurry".
While wandering around Blogland ,drooling over some amazing work on display ,I realised that I hadn't used my punches in a while.I pulled them out (dusted them off) and started punching away :) One of my friends is going to celebrate her anniversary soon, and I decided to make a  card for her ....*crosses fingers* hope she likes it ! Here is what I could come up with , feel free to comment

The punches I have used are EK Success Modern cube
Punch bunch Medium  pear ,small sun ,Medium Ash leaf and large snowflake

Die cuts used  Tropical flourish by Cheery Lyn and Oval doily from Die-namics

The sentiment is hand written.(Woohoo!)

I also thought I would enter it into two competitions ,its the first time ever that I am participating in a blog competition...I am soooo excited :)

Roses for you...

I have already mentioned in my last post how much I loved the papers from Lil bee's kit for this month. The minute I saw the lovely roses ,I knew I had to use it .This is what I came up with .My fascination with Bows continues.Peach  and cream is already a  wonderful combination,we all know that, add apple green to it and we have a combination made in heaven.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and hope you all love it too.

Happy Mother's Day

This months kit from Lil'l bee's was amazing. As soon as I got it ,my mind was buzzing with ideas as to how I could use it.Some of the papers were colours that I rarely use .
This is my first presentation for this month:
This card is for all those wonderful mothers ......there is no one like MOM .My new discovery --- stickles and glossy accents.I try to find excuses to use them !!The stickles that I have used on the lettering is amazingly easy to use and enhances the overall look.I have coated the flower with Glossy accents.Gives it a nice finish and its acid free too , so no problems there . I am proud of my little bow .Its the first halfway decent bow that I have managed to make .You will be seeing more of bows ,stickles and glossy accents from me in the future ,guess I can safely say I am in love ...

The Quilled flower is from Alli  Bartkowski's new book. Its filled with lovely ideas.

Holidays finally !!

The term Summer Holidays sure conjures up lazy days spent in the sun  doing nothing in particular. That was then ....Now, however , its something else..need to think of things to keep my daughter busy or rather away from the computer ..Fortunately this year the weather in Dubai has been fantastic till now so am planning to make full use of it and spend as long as posible outdoors .

What with the exams, I couldn't craft much .so I was in a hurry to quill something....
Came up with these 2 cards in about an hour.Have been splurging on Martha Stewart punches...doesn't she have the most amazing designs ???This one however I borrowed from a Friend.....(Thanks Shabala )... ostensibly to check it out.So when checking it out ,I had punched out a few cards .

The punch is absolutely lovely and is complete by itself and doesn't need much by way of embelishments.....
Have to add  that the distressing on the pink card looks much better in real than in the picture

A new card

Made a new card for a friend and thought I would show it to all of you.I had so muc fun playing around it with it.Not colors that I  normaly work with ,but in the end I enjoyed making it so much. The cental medallion was a cut out from one of Martha Stewart punch all over the page punches ,have also used it o decorate the front of the card...I just fell in love with those punches .Am new to distressing so tried a bit of that too ..
So here goes my latest effort !!

A first !!

After a long time I finally decided to join the blogging world.I definately am not tech savvy so will probably have a lot of Hiccups.Hopefully should get everything sorted out as I go.
Crafting has been my passion as long as I remember.Initially it was embroidery and petit point.I would sit for hours working on whatever design caught my fancy.
I chanced upon quilling nearly 8 years ago and I was hooked !!I have been quilling ever since.
Will share my work with you all in the future.Looking forward to making new friends

Some cards from my collection -
